Project Update
Great Summer Progress on Roof and Renovation Project

With the strong leadership of Bill Knight and great working relationships of the many area contractors on the project, we are happy to report that the bulk of the work on the projects approved by the voters at the 2010 Annual District Meeting has been completed earlier than expected.

The exterior of 1989 wing was painted and completed two weeks ahead of schedule due to the excellent weather. Landscaping work for the project will take place in September after school starts.

Inside the school, our new heat recovery ventilation system is operational. The benefit of the new ventilation system allows us to control for relative humidity - drier in summer and more moist in winter. The air source heat pumps are being installed over the coming weeks. This is the prototype that was so successfully installed last year in Jim Sheehan’s classroom.

During the ’89 renovation, we discovered moisture in bathroom walls; we replaced the sheet rock with fiberglass panels.

Additional Facilities Work

A few summer rainstorms caused some unexpected roof damage on the 2000 addition and gym roofs.  It was so extensive that the School Board needed to approve emergency use of maintenance reserve funds to replace the shingles on the 2000 addition roof and to repair the gym roof. This work will be finished on August 19th.
