Audra Bucklin

Good Evening,

Fall Fun Day was a huge success. Students, together with staff and parent volunteers, planted over 300 bulbs around our campus, wrote countless cards to area veterans, enjoyed some face painting and fortune telling, and competed in contests such as donut on a string, and “capture the pumpkin.” I was especially proud of our 6th through 8th graders who made sure everything ran smoothly.

The smiles started right off the bat in our Schoolwide Assembly. Student Council organized a game of live “Hungry Hippos” in which one student from each class was nominated by their homeroom teacher and peers in recognition of exemplary kindness. Teams of four students then used scooters, buckets, and hula hoops to capture as many plastic balls as possible. There was lots of laughter and cheering as the whole school looked on! I think we might even have a video to post.

The entire event finished with everyone gathered around the Gaga Pit as the Girl Scouts played the inaugural game. Thank you again to the Girl Scouts, the PTA, and all the volunteers who helped install this fun new activity. Students are looking forward to having the option to play during recess starting tomorrow.

The dance Friday was lots of fun. Our student and parent volunteers did a fabulous job transforming the lobby and gym into a festive, fall-themed space complete with hay bales, gourds, and lots of twinkle lights. The DJs kept everyone dancing pretty much the entire time. Thank you to the clean-up crew and all the chaperones. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Watch for pictures on the website of all the fun from last week.

CONFERENCES:

We have early release on Thursday and Friday for our Caregiver-Teacher Conferences. Students will be dismissed at 12:50 pm (exactly 2 hours early.) All families have been assigned a time to meet with their child(ren)’s teacher(s.)  We tried to schedule families with multiple children in close proximity to avoid multiple trips to the school.

Your child(ren)’s homeroom teacher(s) should have notified you of your scheduled time(s). If you have not yet received confirmation of your time, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher. If your time does not work, please work with your child’s teacher to reschedule as needed.

STUDY HALL:

Beginning the week of October 31, we will offer study hall for students in grades 5 through 8 as follows:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
  • We do not currently have anyone available on Tuesday. (We would love a parent volunteer to help with this!)
  • 2:50 pm to 4:15 pm

Students must bring work. There will be a brief snack time and then quiet work until the student is picked up.

TRUNK OR TREAT:

The PTA is sponsoring a Trunk or Treat event from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, October 30th right here at the school. Check out the attached flyer for details.

Have a wonderful evening and see you in the morning!
